An Increase in Data Analytics in the New Era: A Conversation with Cristina Santamarina

Lorenzo Meriggi / September 11, 2020

In continuation of Querlo’s interview series, Francesco Rulli, Global CEO of Quelo, spoke with Cristina Santamarina, Technology and AI Solutions Consultant, about the challenges and opportunities in the post-covid era and the role of Artificial Intelligence for companies in the future.

Cristina is currently based in Spain and helps organizations with their technology needs and facilitates the relationship between businesses, developers, and technicians. She specializes in conversational AI and helping companies to use technology that can talk and understand human language.

The pandemic has led to a huge increase in remote work as people were no longer able to physically go to their offices. Cristina pointed out that companies that thought they would never work remotely adopted it fairly quickly in the wake of covid. In addition, lately, data analytics has become a very hot topic in businesses. Companies realize that if they need to manage global problems, then they need global solutions. This requires analyzing data from many different sources and from people with various perspectives. Moreover, Cristina mentioned how there has been an increased interest in health because before the pandemic, many didn’t know much about epidemiology or vaccines or even what viruses are.

Cristina believes starting an AI strategy in companies will be very beneficial. As data is becoming more relevant, AI can have a positive impact on the way data analytics is done. However, she recommends that companies take the time to learn about AI and how it works before implementing it within their business. There are many resources available that people should take advantage of as they begin because people often  have unrealistic expectations of what AI can accomplish.
