COVID-19 and the Fourth Industrial Revolution: A Conversation with Andrea Bellezza

Lorenzo Meriggi / June 30, 2020

“COVID is not a stop but [we are] discovering [that it] is accelerating the process of the fourth Industrial Revolution,” said Andrea Bellezza, Strategy and Innovation Director at OSC Innovation, in his discussion with Francesco Rulli, Global CEO of Querlo.

Based in Rome, Italy, OSC Innovation offers innovation for businesses and large companies through the creation of customized projects with advanced technologies such as robotics, augmented and virtual reality, and artificial intelligence.

Francesco began the interview by asking what challenges COVID-19 has created and what opportunities might arise in the post-COVID era. Andrea talked about how, despite the rapid changes due to this sudden shift to remote working, we must continue to fight and seek opportunities. He described how the world is currently split into two types of people—those who aren’t able to change and those who are. However, as this digital transformation has accelerated the fourth Industrial Revolution, it is extremely important for businesses to adapt in this new normal.

Looking towards the post-COVID era, Andrea strongly believes that Artificial Intelligence will be an essential part of the future, especially in relation to the prospective needs of businesses. A combination of human and machine intelligence could be the solution to many aspects of the new challenges facing the world, such as politics, the environment, and social relationships. Andrea ends by noting that how we use Artificial Intelligence is the key to these changes.
