In continuation with Querlo’s interview series, Francesco Rulli, Global CEO of Querlo, spoke with Prentice Tom, Futurist at Vituity, about the role of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare.
Vituity is a nationwide partnership of top physicians, advanced providers, and industry professionals that provides care management and staffing solutions. Prentice has been with the company for about 20 years, where he previously served as the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Innovation Officer. As a Futurist, his responsibility is to provide advice and input to Vituity’s executive team to help determine their corporate strategy.
Artificial Intelligence has just been touching the surface of clinical practice, with tremendous opportunity in the near future. Prentice described how Vituity is currently looking at a variety of roles that AI will play in terms of augmenting clinician practice. One area is diagnostics; AI can help radiologists with their interpretations and physicians with figuring out treatments for patients with different complaints. Additionally, AI can be used in the initial intake of patients to provide them with the correct resources. Through the support of AI, support will be provided for patients seeking medical care in an automated way, where they will be informed on where they should seek care and what type of resources they will need access to.
