In continuation with Querlo’s interview series, Francesco Rulli, Global CEO of Querlo, spoke with Dr. Ingrid Vasiliu-Feltes, Healthcare Executive and Digital Advocate, about the challenges and opportunities in the covid era and the role of Artificial Intelligence in the healthcare industry.
Ingrid volunteers for many international organizations as a digital advocate. She focuses on emerging technologies and how to deploy them in healthcare as well as in fintech industries. Over the past few years, she has been very involved in precision medicine, which has recently gotten more attention due to covid.
Covid demonstrated that regardless of their healthcare system, no one was equipped to deal with the pandemic from a logistics, supply, healthcare delivery, and research perspective. Ingrid described how this has illustrated a need to increase efforts globally to create a new approach to wellness and prevention. There has been a tremendous challenge with figuring out how to allocate resources appropriately. The next challenge is to redesign the paradigm in the global healthcare system, not only with the research and delivery of new treatment, but also with the way healthcare is provided globally.
Ingrid believes that AI has enough tools that if applied appropriately, it can be helpful in any type of life science or healthcare model. She made the point that in the healthcare delivery spectrum, AI can address the whole life cycle of disease states. This includes acute and chronic diseases, as well longevity. In the life sciences, AI can be used in the medical device industry and in hyper personalized medicine.
